Founders Brewing creating 72 jobs in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Founders Brewing has been awarded an economic development grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation that will support 72 new jobs in Kent County. The Transportation Economic Development Fund Category A grant will be used to reconstruct streets and construct a dedicated right-turn lane to assure continued access to Founders and help alleviate congestion during peak travel times.

Grand Rapids-based Founders is recognized as one of the country’s premiere craft breweries. Currently the 42nd-largest craft brewery in the world, Founders distributes its products to 23 states and 13 countries. The company is investing $40 million in additional production space and equipment and adding 72 new jobs over the next three years to meet growing customer demand.

Total estimated cost for these projects is $1,657,627, including $1,211,799 in state TEDF funds, $295,828 from the City of Grand Rapids, and $150,000 from MDOT’s Grand Region.
