L.E. Jones expanding in Menominee
MENOMINEE, Mich. — L.E. Jones is the world’s leading manufacturer of heavy-duty valve seat inserts, supplying such companies as Volvo and Caterpillar. Its manufacturing facility in Menominee consists of a dedicated foundry and high-production machine shop. The company plans an expansion, including a reconfigured manufacturing facility, new loading/shipping docks and a new office building.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is awarding a state transportation economic development grant that will support the expansion at L.E. Jones with needed road improvements adjacent to the company’s facility. The improved roadway will provide all-season access to the new shipping/loading dock area enabling L.E. Jones to create 20 jobs and invest $12 million in new building construction and equipment.
Total estimated cost for this project is $258,000, including $206,400 in state TEDF funds and $51,600 from the City of Menominee.
