Clemens bringing the bacon, 810 jobs to Coldwater

COLDWATER, Mich. — Clemens Food Group will locate a 550,000-square-foot pork processing facility in Coldwater Township, investing up to $255.7 million and creating 810 jobs. The company will break ground for the plant in 2017 and by early 2018.

Clemens will produce fresh pork products at the plant that are later made into bacon, ham, pork chops and other items.

Michigan Strategic Fund approved Community Development Block Grant funds for the City of Coldwater for infrastructure improvements, land acquisition, workforce development and on-the-job training for the Clemens pork processing plant.  The project is one of the largest, in terms of job creation, that the Michigan Strategic Fund has ever approved. The 810 new jobs represent more jobs than every Community Development Block Grant project approved in the past year, from November 2013 to November 2014, combined.
