GatorBar plant expanding in Allouez

ALLOUEZ, Mich. — Neuvokas Corporation is expanding in Allouez, creating 31 jobs over the next two years. The company is a developer and manufacturer of GatorBar, a Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer rebar.

Neuvokas is also investing in new equipment and machinery as part of the expansion project. The Township of Allouez, Keweenaw County, has received Community Development Block Grant funds from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for on-the-job training for new employees.

According to Neuvokas’ website, GatorBar BFRP is manufactured using a proprietary high speed process allowing it to compete with steel on price and cost less than corrosion resistant rebar alternatives. By using GatorBar, the project will be higher quality, the construction site safer, and the carbon footprint smaller.
